Inharmonic Vowels

This demonstration illustrates the inharmonic vowels used by de Cheveigné to study double vowel identification. The software used to synthesize these vowels is courtesy of Alain de Cheveigné.

Start and stop the sound with the 'Start' button at the bottom. You can select the two vowels you want to hear. You can also set each of them separately to be harmonic or inharmonic. Inharmonic vowels have the same spectral envelope, but a set of partials that do not form a harmonic series.
